Music has always been a vibrant part of the worship on the mountain. Many folks in Wilkes and surrounding counties still speak of the second Saturday night singings began by Vestal Moore, pastor of Cherry Grove for thirty-seven years and called home to the with the Lord in July of 1997. Memories were made as people drove up the five miles of then dirt road, off of highway 115, to Cherry Grove, where the choir would sing with zeal and the groups following (quartets, soloists, trios, other church choirs) would raise the roof with their Spirit-filled singing and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Though the Saturday night singings have passed away, the Spirit of the singing and love for Christ-honoring music still rings through the mountain. We hope you will listen to some of the songs provided on the site and that each one will lift your spirits and speak to your heart as they do ours. There will soon be a CD available of our choir on the resources link. We hope you will check it out. |
